The former fishing village Frankfurt-Fechenheim within the meandering main river was first mentioned in a document in 977. On April 1, 1928, Frankfurt incorporated the surrounding village. The increasing industrialization at the beginning of the 20th century let Fechenheim grow drastically. Today, Frankfurt-Fechenheim offers its visitors a mixture of an idyllic center, post-war settlements and huge industrial plants.
